About Me — Michael Horner

Husband, salesperson, ultra-runner

continually pushing myself to be a better version of myself

living an ultra life, a life lived to the full.

An hour after the sun rose at a November 2020 24-Hour Race.

I am a survivor of broken dreams. Thirteen years ago, I experienced the worse hell I ever thought a human being could live through. After working hard and studying even harder my wife of 22 years and I found ourselves in Central Asia broken, angry and depressed. All our hopes and goals lay shattered on an airport floor. A “perfect storm” of circumstances, our own choices/lack of choices and seven years of accumulated stress left us unable to continue the project we had given our lives to.

We arrived back in the US jobless, overweight and out of shape, with no desire to hope, dream or even pray for a future. The thirteen years since that have been fueled by one sentence spoken by my long-time friend/mentor as he met us at the airport,

“Feel the feelings. Seek the Truth.”

Living an Ultra Life is the brand my wife and I are building together to tell the story of a couple verging on divorce or suicide who sought the truth and have begun to live again.

I have lost over eighty pounds and gone from a sedentary lifestyle to a lifestyle of running ultra-marathons.

Through podcasting and writing, I attempt to encourage others to begin living again. Check us out on:

Many of my articles are about running or running themed, but if you look closely, you will find that these same principles can be applied to any area of your life…finances, relationships, faith, any physical activity.

My goal in everything I do is to encourage each of us to become better versions of who we currently are. We are all capable of so much more than we believe we are. Reaching beyond what you think you are capable of will give you amazing stories to tell to the next generation.

So, come along on the run of your life! Let’s all live an ultra life, a life lived to the full!
